Standard Belleville Washer Materials

6150 Alloy

  • Operating temperature range
    • -40°F / -40°C to 350°F / 177°C
  • For indoor/outdoor service, electrical and corrosive atmospheres
  • Abrasion-resistant | Fully magnetic
  • Suitable for many general engineering applications requiring high tensile strength and toughness.
  • Specific Applications: Typically used in a closed system with oil or grease contact.
  • Standard finish: Mechanically Zinc Plated with Trivalent Chromate (ASTM B695, Class 12, RoHS compliant)
    • Also available with scale-free, oil finish, or a Zinc Phosphate and oil finish.
AISI 6150 ALLOY (ASTM A506) / 1074 CARBON STEEL (ASTM A684)INCONEL 718 - ASTM B637 or B670 H-13 TOOL STEEL - ASTM A681

Inconel 718

  • Operating temperature range
    • -400°F / -240°C to 1100°F / 594°C
  • Specific Applications: Inconel 718 is ideal for corrosive environments in which there is contact with drilling mud, sour gas or for non-magnetic applications. It is also ideal for indoor/outdoor service and high-temperature applications or corrosive atmosphere.
  • Specific Applications
  • Non-magnetic
  • Available in NACE MR0175 Condition
  • Standard finish: Scale-free plain finish

H-13 Tool Steel

  • Operating temperature range
    • Ambient to 1100°F / 594°C
  • This is the most commonly used material for our Flange Washers due to its excellent strength and working temperature range, of ambient to 1100°F.
  • For indoor/outdoor service and high-temperature atmospheres
  • Fully magnetic
  • Finish: Natural finish with light oil-coat

17-7PH Stainless Steel

  • Operating temperature range
    • -320°F / -200°C to 550°F / 288°C
  • Working temperature range
    • -400°F to 550°F
  • For indoor/outdoor service, electrical and corrosive atmospheres
  • Not recommended for extreme chloride or fluoride applications without plating or reduced stresses
  • Suitable for cryogenic applications & applications when bolt loads are much lighter.
  • Highly magnetic
  • Standard material condition TH1050 per AMS 2759/3
  • Alternate available material conditions
    • TH1075
    • RH950
    • CH900
  • Standard finish: Scale-free plain finish
    • Also available: Sulfamate nickel plated (AMS 2424)

301 Stainless Steel – ASTM A666

  • Operating temperature range
    • -400°F / -240°C to 550°F / 288°C
  • For indoor/outdoor service, electrical and corrosive atmospheres
  • Slightly magnetic due to work hardening

Standard finish: Scale-free plain finish

Mechanical Plating

Mechanical plating is also available. Mechanical plating’s greatest advantage is its ability to overcome hydrogen embrittlement problems. This is especially important for work pieces that have a hardness greater than HRC 40, while still offering equivalent corrosion protection of electroplating. Mechanical plating is normally applied to carbon steel springs.

Deburring

Substantially, all of Solon® Belleville Springs and washers are deburred to the Solon Manufacturing Co. standard radius specification. Belleville springs and washers with a thickness greater than .312 will typically have a machined radius. H-13 Flange Washers will have machined contact points at load bearing corners.
