Manufacturing Engineer

Solon Manufacturing Company, located in Chardon Ohio, a premier designer and manufacturer of Belleville spring washers and industrial pressure switches is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to provide comprehensive product and process ownership of Solon washers. Lead efforts to support the Operations team by developing clear standard work and the use of systematic tools for product design and consistent manufacturing. Identify and drive opportunities for improvement to safety, quality, and efficiency. Resolve relevant product/process deviations and provide support towards the development of commercial opportunities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and actively manage consistent standards for catalog and proprietary washers
  • Manage ERP product designation through cooperation with Sales/Marketing; define product status, category, family, and other attributes
  • Develop, maintain, and improve infrastructure for production tooling, fixtures, die sets, and support equipment
  • Define production methodology and raw material selection criteria, including assessment of internal and outplant manufacturing options
  • Perform product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement and increased efficiency.
  • Oversee and coordinate the prototype process; collaborate with other departments to ensure new products are prototyped effectively and provide value required by customer
  • Review production issues, NCRs, RMAs, etc. and oversee that short-term decisions support long-term engineering goals
  • Analyze technology and resource needs to plan and assess the feasibility of projects
  • Assist in the selection of new equipment and plan its layout, related work instructions, and equipment commissioning/validation
   Experiences, Competencies, Skills and Education:
  • BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or similar Engineering discipline
  • 7- 10 years of engineering responsibility in metal stamping and/or CNC machine manufacturing with proficiencies in materials and metallurgy required
  • Skilled in Solid Works CAD system and Microsoft office products
  • Proven ability to model data and make conclusions with statistical analysis
  • ERP and capacity resource planning experience preferred
